Early Participation
North Korea, officially known as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), first participated in the Olympic Games in 1964, appearing only in the Winter Olympic Games that year.
Summer Games Debut
North Korea made its Summer Olympic debut at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. That year, 58 North Korean athletes competed, winning a total of seven medals, including four golds.
All-Time Medal Record
Since its first Olympic appearance, North Korea has won a total of 58 Olympic medals across various sports. The country has also participated in collaboration with other National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to win medals.
National Olympic Committee
The National Olympic Committee of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was founded in 1953 and recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1957.
