Anthony Edwards Punches Nuggets in the Mouth
Timberwolves Take Game 1
Edwards Scores Career-High 43 Points
The Minnesota Timberwolves took a 1-0 lead against the defending champion Denver Nuggets in a Western Conference semifinal series opener on Saturday night, with Anthony Edwards leading the way with a playoff career-high 43 points.
Edwards was aggressive from the start, attacking the basket and drawing fouls. He also hit several key three-pointers, including a pull-up jumper late in the fourth quarter that gave the Timberwolves a 10-point lead.
Naz Reid also had a strong game for the Timberwolves, scoring 14 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter. He helped to keep the Nuggets at bay with several key rebounds and defensive plays.
The Nuggets were led by Nikola Jokic, who had 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. Jamal Murray added 24 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Timberwolves' hot shooting.
The Timberwolves will look to take a 2-0 lead in the series when they host the Nuggets in Game 2 on Monday night.
